RUEA Representatives Explore Vocational Education Practices in the Solar Energy Sector in Czechia
From 19 to 23 October, Maria Khakhanyan, Vice President of the Republican Union of Employers of Armenia (RUEA), and Lilit Adamyan, Executive Director, participated in the Steering Committee meeting and study visit of the Erasmus+ REnForce project, “Strengthening Workforce Potential in the Renewable Energy Sector,” in Mladá Boleslav, the Czech Republic.
The study visit aimed to explore Czechia’s experience in fostering cooperation between education and the labour market in the renewable energy sector, examine effective approaches to work-based learning, and learn about the activities of professional organisations and associations operating in the sector.
During the Steering Committee meeting, the project local and international partners jointly reviewed the project’s implementation progress, the work carried out to date, and upcoming activities.

An important part of the study tour was a visit to Škoda Auto a.s. Secondary Vocational School of Engineering, where participants learned about the organisation of vocational education and the school’s educational infrastructure. The learning environment, equipped with dedicated facilities and equipment, enables theoretical knowledge to be combined with practical training, helping students develop and strengthen their professional skills. This experience demonstrated how effectively integrating classroom learning with practical work can contribute to preparing specialists whose skills meet labour market needs.
The discussions held during the visit also provided an opportunity to exchange local and international experience, present different approaches to organising vocational education, and explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and employers.
On 22 October, project partners met with the President of the Solar Association Czech Republic. The meeting focused on issues related to the development of the sector and opportunities to exchange experience in establishing a sectoral organisation in Armenia.
Launched in 2025, the three-year REnForce project aims to develop the professional skills required in Armenia’s renewable energy sector, modernise vocational education and training programmes, and strengthen the links between education and the labour market.
As part of the project, a new vocational education programme in renewable energy has been introduced at the college of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, while existing programmes at three vocational education and training institutions in Armenia have been modernised.

RUEA’s participation in the project is important for strengthening cooperation between education and business, expanding employer engagement, and promoting work-based learning. The exchange of experience with Czech partners and international discussions help identify practical approaches to vocational education development, with the aim of preparing specialists whose skills meet labour market needs and supporting the development of Armenia’s renewable energy sector.
