In Business, as in Life, You Don’t Get What You Deserve — You Get What You Negotiate

The Republican Union of Employers of Armenia (RUEA) is continuing its commitment to professional development through ongoing training sessions for its members. This time, the focus was on managing internal and external change, as well as developing communication and negotiation skills.

Samvel Gevorgyan, a professional business consultant with nearly three decades of experience in management and the founding director of BSC Business Support Center, led an engaging and interactive training session covering the following topics:

  • Internal and external factors affecting business,
  • Successful models of change (Kotter’s 8 Steps, ADKAR model, Agile mindset),
  • “Monday Morning Actions” — a set of practical principles designed to boost team engagement and ensure the effectiveness of organizational change management.

Participants also explored the key challenges organizations face during periods of transition and discussed strategies for overcoming resistance and achieving success.

In the session on communication culture and the art of negotiation, Samvel Gevorgyan introduced the Lieutenant Columbo effect, the power of "yes", techniques for positive framing, and methods for reaching final agreements. He also shared practical advice on the stages of negotiation and how to apply them effectively.

“In business, as in life, you don’t get what you deserve — you get what you negotiate.” - Chester L. Karrass

“Negotiation is the process of searching for terms to get what we need from someone who wants something from us.” - Gavin Kennedy

We extend our sincere thanks to Samvel Gevorgyan, Founder and Director of BSC Business Support Center, for sharing his extensive professional experience and delivering a content-rich training packed with both theoretical insights and practical exercises.
